Garioch Ploughing Competition

The Ploughing Competition for the Premiums given by the Highland Society of Scotland, in the District of Garioch, book place on the Farm of Old Rayne, occupied by Mr James Philip, on Thursday the 27th October, when the Prized were awarded by the judges as follows -

1st, Three Guineas, and the Society's Silver Medal, to William Reid, servant to Mr Stephen, Conglass.

2d, Two Guineas, and a Silver Medal to William Anderson, servant to Mr Keith, Netherthird.

3d, Two Guineas, to Alex. Watson, servant to ditto.

4th, One Guinea and a Half, to John Geddes, servant to Mr Smith, Greenhall.

5th, One Guinea, to William Morrison, servant to Mr Jopp, Nether Boddom.

6th, One Half Guinea , to Peter Rough, Portstown.

The Ploughing was executed much to the satisfaction of the judges.  After the business, upwards of thirty Gentlemen dined together at Pitmachie; and passed the evening with that harmony and conviviality which ever attends Meetings having the agricultural interests of the country as their object.
